Background

The Lisbon New University (UNL) was founded in 1973 and is one of the major and most prestiged universities in Portugal. It is composed of several faculties, including the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FCT) where the first computer science graduate degree of Portugal was created.

The QUASAR Group (QUantitative Approaches on Software Engineering And Reengineering) is a research group within the Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology. The Computer Science Department has currently 55 members (42 PhD and 13 MSc). The QUASAR Group has currently 6 members: 1 PhD, 2 PhD students, 7 MSc student and 1 undergraduate student. The QUASAR team is the natural evolution from the MOOD team. MOOD was a research team that worked on empirical software engineering within the software engineering group of Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores (INESC), a portuguese R&D institute, from 1994 to 2001.
