Welcome to the beautiful city of Lisbon! Here, you will find a combination of historical monuments with modern equipments. Lisbon is well-known for its varied offer of activities, from visiting the numerous monuments, museums, parks and gardens, the EXPO'98 area and the Oceanarium to its famous gastronomy and, of course, fado. Lisbon is also famous for its varied night life.

Lisbon's international airport is just 7km away from the city center, and the city is also easily accessible by daily trains from several European cities.

The Lisbon Tourism Office web site is an excellent entry point for visitors to start discovering our city. The conference will be held in one of Lisbon's most noble areas, Belém. Belém is linked to Portugal's Golden Age of Discoveries as the site where the famous navigators set sail to discover the world. Today it is a spacious green suburb with many gardens, parks and monuments that are well worth a visit.

Jerónimos Monastery

Amongst Belém's attractions are the Jerónimos Monastery, the Monument to the Discoveries, the Belém Tower, and the Belém Cultural Centre, where the conference will be held. There are also some unique delicassies that can only be found in Belém, such as the famous Pastés de Belém.
